It was a great pleasure to celebrate the extraordinary milestone of the 100th Birthday of Blaxland Public school on the 12th of September. One hundred years is a remarkable achievement: a century of learning, growth and community spirit.
Since opening its doors in 1926, the school has stood as a cornerstone of the lower Blue Mountains, educating generations of locals and creating cherished memories for countless families.
Schools are more than buildings and classrooms: they are special places where lifelong friendships are formed, where children develop their character and learn the value of ethics and respect – alongside reading, writing and arithmetic.
A major highlight of the Centenary celebrations was the ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ display: a curated exhibition showcasing historical photographs, memorabilia and personal stories spanning the decades. This was a wonderful glimpse into the school’s remarkable journey, from chalkboards and inkwells to the modern digital classrooms of today!
I also want to acknowledge the dedication of past and present Principals, Teachers, support staff, school leaders, the P&C volunteers, students and families. Their commitment has helped shape the lives of countless young people.
Congratulations Blaxland Public School and all those connected to this fantastic little school!
