Last week I had the pleasure of presenting to many deserving recipients at the 2023 Greater Sydney Regional Landcare Awards. These awards recognise communities and individuals who have shown an outstanding commitment and passion for upholding the natural environment and Landcare movement. I would like to commend those in my electorate of the Blue Mountains who received much‑deserved recognition. Galong Creek Bushcare Group, supported by the National Parks and Wildlife Service have, for over 15 years, been actively involved in raising funds and preserving the land around this waterway in the Megalong Valley. Their longstanding advocacy and protection of the Galong Creek is a truly worthy achievement. Farm it Forward is an innovative urban farming social enterprise, concerned with promoting environmental resilience, wellbeing and positive mental health outcomes. Manu Prigioni and the Farm it Forward team continue to make outstanding contributions to our Blue Mountains community. The winner of the Young Landcare Leader Award, Jude Bennett is a Year 10 student at Katoomba High School. His commitment to advocating for sustainable food practices and environmental resilience, has inspired many others to take similar action.
