I want to extend my congratulations to all involved in the launch of the 2026 My Story, Your Story mentorship program organised by Mountain of Youth. Over 12 weeks 14 students from Katoomba High School will collaborate with senior mentors from the Blue Mountains Retirement Village to produce four short films.  
 
The true achievement of this program extends beyond the films; it is in strengthening connections within the community and creating intergenerational bonds. Mountain of Youth’s projects empower young people through storytelling and filmmaking, ensuring that their voices, experiences, and creative visions are being heard whilst they develop valuable creative skills and confidence.  

At the heart of this program is a commitment to connection, creating bonds and shared understanding between generations where the young people and seniors alike can exchange their respective knowledge and insights. I’m sure the friendships and experiences gained throughout this program will create lasting impacts for both the students and seniors involved.  
 
I look forward to witnessing the legacy this intergenerational program creates when the films premiere at The Edge Cinema Katoomba in December!
