22 March 2016
Ms TRISH DOYLE (Blue Mountains): Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending Springwood Hospital's fortieth anniversary. I was joined by staff, past and present, and members of the Blue Mountains community to mark this special occasion. Officially opened on 1 March in 1976, Springwood Hospital originally operated as an extension to Nepean Hospital, offering general medical and surgical care. These days it specialises in geriatric, rehabilitation and palliative inpatient care and day surgery. This is a true community hospital with ongoing fundraising efforts from the fantastic auxiliary providing much-needed resources.
I congratulate Assistant Director of Nursing, Steven Jackson; Acting Manager, Diane Moran; General Manager, Andrea Williams; Enrolled Nurse for nearly 30 years, Noeleen Murphy; Springwood Hospital auxiliary foundation member, Margaret Mulvaney; and all the fantastic auxiliary members, staff and volunteers on their combined efforts to make the day a wonderful celebration. Particular note must also be made of the indomitable Richard Jackson-Hope, President of the Friends of Springwood Hospital. Congratulations to everyone involved.
