On Friday 30 June the global TEDx initiative came to Katoomba for the first time. Congratulations to TEDx organisers, Niall and Wei Clerkin for putting on such an incredible event and bringing a collection of diverse voices to the Blue Mountains. The TEDx platform is one that is already very much admired and revered and the Katoomba event was no exception, showcasing the expertise of a range of speakers who generously shared their thoughts and ideas. This bringing together of people whose sole agenda is to spark conversation and awareness and to invite us all to think deeply and perhaps differently, is inspiring and worthy of recognition. TEDx is a trusted platform and for good reason. It fills me with pride that the Blue Mountains was chosen as a location capable of flying the flag of this grassroots initiative. To Niall and Wei, on behalf of our community, thank you – for the immeasurable hard work and passion that you've dedicated to bringing this event to our doorstep, showcasing the creativity and innovation of the Blue Mountains and welcoming others from further afield to share their knowledge and perspectives.
