I acknowledge Norm Harris, who left us earthside on 21 July at the tender age of 95. Our Blue Mountains community—along with Norm's family, many friends, Labor Party mates, neighbours, colleagues and collaborators in the environment movement from NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, Blue Mountains Conservation Society, Blue Mountains City Council and Bushcare groups—farewelled him in a moving funeral service at Leura on Monday. I had the great pleasure of knowing, walking with and working with Norm. He was a man of quiet strength and unwavering principle: steadfast, loyal and committed to his family, friends, fairness, justice and the causes he believed in.

Norm Harris was a gentleman, a gentle, kind and sweet man, an indefatigable conservationist and campaigner, a visionary and a friend. He is most famous for the many years—over 20—of campaigning successive governments, Ministers and local members to see the Grand Cliff Top Walk come to fruition in 2024. Norm's work was instrumental in securing the support and funding that brought that remarkable project to life. It is his lasting legacy, one of absolute dedication. I pay tribute to Norm's life. He will be remembered and missed. May he now rest in peace reunited with his darling wife, Laurel.
