Ms TRISH DOYLE (Blue Mountains) (15:49): I acknowledge this momentous day in the New South Wales Parliament when the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2021 passed both Houses. I thank all those in the community who have campaigned tirelessly in support of this important reform: Dying with Dignity NSW; Go Gentle Australia; and, in particular, Andrew Denton for his critical, concise and compassionate advocacy. I pay tribute to the late Annie Gabrielides of the Blue Mountains, to her life and her fight for this important reform. Annie did not live to see this day, nor did she have the option of choosing how she died. But her energy and efforts played a part. I put on record the heartfelt thanks of my community to local Blue Mountains campaigner Richard Mills; my colleague co-sponsors, particularly the Hon. Adam Searle for his work in the upper House; Shayne Higson; Penny Hackett; and the indefatigable Alex Greenwich, MP.
