23 March 2022

Ms TRISH DOYLE (Blue Mountains) (16:52): On Monday of this week, we observed World Down Syndrome Day, which is a day of global awareness. The date for World Down Syndrome Day is the twenty-first day of the third month. That date was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the twenty-first chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. I recognise all of the fabulous families and communities in the Blue Mountains electorate who together advocate for the rights, the inclusion and the wellbeing of people with Down syndrome not only on 21 March but every day, every week, every month of every year. I particularly acknowledge a family friend of mine, Joshua Elston, and how proud I am to know this beautiful soul.
