Blue Mountains TAFE will receive $452,000 in funding over the next two years to improve digital infrastructure.
The improvements include $4000 worth of new devices at Katoomba campus within the next year, and upgrading the digital network at Katoomba and Wentworth Falls campuses within the next two years.
Wentworth Falls campus will receive funding of $291,000, and Katoomba campus $161,000.
It’s part of a $74-million-dollar investment by the Minns Labor government across 68 TAFE NSW campuses, which includes upgrading the outdated 2009 network, enhancing connectivity across 68 campus locations, and providing 14,900 new devices for students, employees, and teaching spaces.
Blue Mountains State MP Trish Doyle said the funding would help teachers deliver course content, while enhancing learning for students.
“A stable, faster network connection means teachers are better able to teach, making the classroom more engaging, and students are better able to learn,” she said.
“These upgrades are essential for supporting modern educational needs in hybrid learning environments.”
Minister for Skills, TAFE, and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan said: “The Minns Labor Government recognises that to expand learning opportunities in local communities, TAFE NSW needs enhanced network infrastructure and improved connectivity.
“Investing in technology-enriched campuses will enable TAFE NSW to better deliver skills for critical and emerging industries.
To date, we have already provided more than 6000 new classroom devices for learners.
“Investing in TAFE NSW ensures that the capacity to deliver skills for critical and emerging industries for a modern economy is increased, and key workers in priority industries are trained to build a robust, scalable, and skilled workforce.”
