Blue Mountains MP Trish Doyle said: “It’s wonderful to have this essential service in the Blue Mountains in February and March.
“It’s recommended that women aged 50 to 74 have a breast screen every two years, as this is the best way to find breast cancer early.”
Undertaking screening with BreastScreen NSW is free of charge and no GP referral is required. Women aged 40-49 and over 75 are also eligible to attend, but speak to your doctor first to see if it is a priority for you. Aboriginal women are recommended to start screening from age 40. Women experiencing symptoms such as a lump, nipple discharge or persistent new breast pain are advised to speak to their doctor without delay.
