MORE FUNDING FOR BLUE MOUNTAINS’ COMMUNITY SPORT
Community sports clubs in the Blue Mountains can now apply for funding to purchase new equipment, upgrade facilities, and deliver programs as part of the NSW Government run Local Sport Grant Program.
The Program provides $4.65 million in funding to NSW sporting organisations with $50,000 available per electorate and grants up to $20,000 now available to clubs and associations.
In 2022/23, $3.5 million was awarded for 592 projects, including development clinics, uniforms and programs.
Member for the Blue Mountains, Trish Doyle said “The Blue Mountains has such an active sporting community, and we know that investing in sport at a grassroots level leads to greater health outcomes for people of all ages. I often visit clubs across our region - and welcome this funding as part of the NSW Minns State Government’s plans to support our sports associations.”
The Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper added that “The NSW Government understands the vital role community sport plays in keeping people healthy, active and socially connected. Never was this more evident than during recent natural disasters and the pandemic.”
Applications in the 2023/24 Local Sport Grant Program close 27 November 2023.
