I acknowledge some of the fantastic sporting organisations in the Blue Mountains that will shortly be sharing in nearly $4.5 million following the awarding of grants from the New South Wales Government's Local Sport Grant Program. The program provides grants for a whole range of things, including minor facility upgrades, new equipment and a whole range of programs that support people and encourage participation in a range of sport and active recreation across the State. As the Minister for Sport has said, these days a number of clubs have very tight budgets and are ever more reliant on volunteers. The funding through the grants program gives teams the resources to invest where it is needed, whether it is purchasing new jerseys or hosting local events like "come and try" days. Sport plays a vital role in bringing people together in my Blue Mountains community. It forms friendships and networks. The grants that I will mention today will help our local clubs buy vital equipment and will enable more residents to participate.

I congratulate the local Blue Mountains sports organisations that were successful in securing funding. The fabulous Springwood District Athletic Club will receive just over $5,000 for its athlete coach development program, which will encourage those young athletes—back in the day, my sons were among them—to give back to the club and foster their coaching skills. The club received a second grant for a project to enhance safety and event delivery through a new PA system upgrade and high-jump mat protection, for which they received nearly $2,500. I congratulate that fabulous club.

The Blue Mountains Roller Derby League tried to recruit me a few years ago, but I thought I would end up dead! However, I love watching its members in action; their energy is just incredible. The league's new member access project, Roller Derby for All, has received nearly $5,200. The Blue Mountains Basketball Association in Katoomba is a great way to get a lot of young kids off the street. It often runs a night-time comp and has a lot of youth organisations wrapping around it. It is a great entry point for kids who need a bit of support. The association will receive nearly $9,000 for its Community Growth, Development and Inclusion Program. I congratulate the members.

The Leura Golf Club will receive just over $14,000 for its Equal Access Project, which aims to increase access for girls, with a particular program to encourage girls and women, the LGBTIQA+ and First Nations communities, beginners and people with disabilities to play golf. I look forward to heading along and seeing what they do. Last but not least, the Springwood and Districts Citizens Boys and Girls Club will receive just over $14,000 for its project to upgrade its sprung floor, to support inclusive, modern gymnastics programs. A lot of little kids are not quite sure what to do in the mountains in terms of sport, and the club's programs represent a great entry point to see what their skills are and how they can develop them. I congratulate all of those sporting organisations in the beautiful Blue Mountains. I look forward to coming along and trying out what they have to offer.
