I take great pleasure in acknowledging the Victoria and Albert Guesthouse in Station Street, Mount Victoria. It is one of the very best places to relax and enjoy. It is a guesthouse of heart and soul, with many adventures to be had. Nestled in the picturesque town of Mount Victoria, within the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains, the guesthouse is a haven of tranquillity, set amidst six acres of stunning grounds adorned with Heritage listed trees and local fauna. Stepping through the doors of the V&A, people instantly feel transported to a bygone era where every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered. It is a perfect escape that I encourage people to visit.
Boasting a restaurant, a bar, a cafe, a glorious guesthouse and many nooks and crannies to explore, the property is an adventure, with each room boasting an array of antiques and fascinating curiosities that invite guests to delve into the past. Whether wandering through the gardens of the V&A, where the historic trees that stand tall and native birds that flit and flutter add to the enchanting ambiance, or taking a leisurely seat on the wraparound balcony, gazing out over the majestic mountains while sipping on a glass of local wine or indulging in a perfectly brewed cup of tea, any visit is sure to be as seamless as it is memorable.
The events at the V&A are many and varied, and they are an absolute joy to behold. Coming up this month, on Saturday 13 June the V&A presents Remembering Marilyn. People can step back into the 1950s and early 1960s for a night of reflection and beauty dedicated to the timeless allure and sheer beauty of the legendary Marilyn Monroe. The night will include a decadent dinner, but it is also an invitation to see rare artefacts from Marilyn's life and a presentation on the production of Something's Got to Give, in tribute to her final work. Of course, dressing up as one's inner silver screen star is encouraged. Think pearls, tailored suits and effortless glamour of the old Hollywood. The vibe will be sophisticated, warm, glamorous and lots of fun. Those who cannot make the event should definitely book for a Christmas in July lunch or dinner.
There are many historic landmarks and scenic trails to discover in Mount Victoria. Check out the little cinema of Mount Vic Flicks and the Mount Victoria Museum. Step back in time as tales of the past come alive amidst historic settings. Delve into the rich tapestry of Mount Victoria's history, from its Indigenous roots to its days as a vital hub for transportation and trade. Stroll along Station Street, where grand architecture and charming properties offer glimpses into the town's storied past. Then venture into the surrounding bushland to discover panoramic vistas and scenic trails that showcase the region's natural splendour.
I encourage visitors to catch a train to this delightful historic village. It is all part of the magnificent journey and destination. From leisurely lookouts to scenic drives along the Bells Line of Road, Mount Victoria invites exploration at every turn. Whether they are drawn to its historic landmarks, breathtaking views or simply seeking a mountain escape, Mount Victoria welcomes everyone to uncover its hidden treasures and embrace the magic of the beautiful Blue Mountains. The V&A Guesthouse has 21 rooms and suites nestled in historic Mount Victoria, the only historic town in the Blue Mountains that offers a unique and unexpected experience. Whether seeking a relaxing getaway, a delicious meal or a grand event venue, the V&A promises something extraordinary, and true mountain charm.
The Victoria & Albert Guesthouse is where history meets modern luxury. The team look forward to welcoming everyone and sharing the beauty of Mount Victoria. I have had the very great pleasure of being at the V&A quite a bit lately, pretty much very week. The Victoria Pass is closed on the Great Western Highway, but Mount Vic is open. The Premier has been to visit, as has the Minister for Roads and the Minister for Small Business, and Minister for Recovery. Many of the businesses are suffering, and they would love for visitors to come and visit. I give a shout-out to the gorgeous proprietor, Shane McLucas, who has become a friend. He is calm, solutions-focused, passionate, charming, gentle and inquisitive, and is part of the beauty and the fun that is the V&A. He and Michael are very welcoming, as are the entire team, with lovely Luna at the front reception. The V&A is open seven days a week. It is a gem in my community. I encourage everyone to come and visit.
